Juan Díez Medrano

 

Juan Díez Medrano (PhD, University of Michigan) is a Professor of Sociology at the Universidad Carlos III and Senior Researcher at IBEI.  His research focuses on societal transformations resulting from the process of European integration, as well as on ethnic conflict and nationalism.  He is the author of Divided Nations (Cornell, 1995), Framing Europe (Princeton, 2003), and Europe in Love (Routledge, 2020), and has published his research in American Sociological Review, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Social Forces, Sociological Inquiry, Review of International Political Economy, International Journal of Comparative Sociology, Theory and Society, Journal of European Integration, Comparative European Politics, Population, Space, and Place, and International Journal on Multicultural Societies, among others. He served as Chair of the Council of European Studies between 2013 and 2014 and has been a member of the External Scientific Committee of the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung.
