Ian Paterson

Dr Ian Paterson is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Glasgow and serves as Director of Postgraduate Study in the dept. of Politics and International Relations. His main research and teaching interests lie in the areas of international security studies, security theory and migration and identity politics, with a specialised focus on theoretical and methodological development of securitisation theory, desecuritisation and broader attempts to ‘contest’ security. His work in these areas has featured in several peer-reviewed outlets, including: European Journal of International Security, International Relations, European Security, The British Journal of Politics and International Relations and Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies.
