Eamonn Butler McIntosh

 

Eamonn Butler McIntosh joined the University of Glasgow in September 2006 and is a Senior Lecturer in Central and East European Studies and Deputy Head of the School of Social and Political Sciences. He oversaw the establishment of two of the University’s five Security Studies programmes, including the MSc Global Security and the International Master in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies (IMSISS) which is operated as a university consortium with Charles University Prague, Dublin City University and the University of Trento. IMSISS has twice been awarded Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree status and Eamonn acted as programme director until 2021. His research and teaching interests focus primarily on contemporary security concerns and geopolitics of Central Europe and the European Union. Most recently has been leading a University research project to better embed intercultural awareness and competency building within university curricula. He has published research and commentary on societal security, national politics of Hungary and energy security matters in various publications including among others Europe-Asia StudiesGeopoliticsIJESEREuropeNow, and The Conversation. He served as chair of the Council for European Studies Annual conference 2017 and was previously editor of the Journal of Contemporary European Research. He currently sits on the editorial board of Europe-Asia Studies.
